Steven Martin Shangreau, Sr. was born on September 2, 1956 to Ethelyn "Johni" (St. John) Shangreau and Calvin L. Shangreau, Sr. Steve passed away on September 21, 2023 at his home in Rushville, NE.
Steve is survived by his wife, Corby (Brewer) Shangreau; his sons, Steven M. Shangreau, Jr. of Rushville, NE and Sam Shangreau of Pine Ridge, SD; his daughter, Carly Shangreau of Rushville, NE; brothers, Ted St. John of Gallup, NM and Wesley Shangreau of Pine Ridge, SD; sisters, Billie Dawn Lessert of Porcupine, SD, Donna Shangreau of Belle Fourche, SD, Shannon Richards, Julie Shangreau, and Tiffany Shangreau of Pine Ridge, SD; grandchildren, Jonathan Hawkins of Rapid City, SD, Aaliyah Cotton of Cheyenne, WY, Lonnie Bettelyoun of Pine Ridge, SD, Leighton Shangreau of Rapid City, SD, Dora Shangreau, Sonya Shangreau, Rylee Twiss, and Steven Shangreau III of Rushville, NE; uncle, Ronnie Wounded Knee; aunts, Marlene Wilson, Elizabeth "Ann" Conroy, and Velma Fleury; and god-children, Sean Gray, Brandon Shangreau, Shalane Janis, Brent Moose, Jr., Kelli Watters, Jordan Red Cloud, and Rhiannon Pilcher.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Ethelyn (Johni) Shangreau; siblings, Calvin "Tim" Shangreau, Jr., Ron Shotts, Richard Shangreau, Darla Shangreau-Pourier; nieces, Brenda Shangreau and Rhonda Shotts; and grandchildren, Paris and Nico Janis.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Shangreau Sr., Shawn Richards, Calvin Janis, Payton Janis, Kelly Shangreau, Chris Rabbit, Robert Fire Thunder, and Todd Watters
Honorary pallbearers will be All current & past students and staff at Pine Ridge School, and All Friends, Relatives, and Sundance Family.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 3:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD.
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Pine Ridge Elementary School Gym in Pine Ridge, SD.
Traditional Lakota Services: Warfield Moose, Jr.
Burial Services: St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery, Kyle, SD
