Steven Shutt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Sep. 4, 2024.
Steven "Steve" Shutt, born on April 9, 1969, in Evansville, IN, was a man who loved his family and friends and shared his love with them until his peaceful passing on August 26th, 2024, in his hometown.
Steve was a man who had a strong presence and those who knew him loved him for that. He leaves behind a legacy of love and humor. Steve's infectious smile and quick wit brought light to those around him. He was a dedicated son to his mother, Carolyn (Moore) Shutt, and always remembered his father, Harold Ray Shutt, with deep respect and affection. Steve was a protective and playful older brother to Bryan Scott Shutt and Kristen Shutt, and his laughter and shenanigans will echo in their hearts for the rest of their days. Steve's family extended to a host of cousins who shared in his mischievous escapades and cherished moments. His aunts Marilyn Cunningham, Ruth Cook, Dorris Hill, Shirley Schneller and Brenda Barta preceded him in death. They and the rest of his family had a lasting impact on him. Steve never missed the opportunity to crack a joke, aiming to bring a smile to everyone's faces. He had a passion for music and loved to share that with those around him. Some of his favorites were Elvis Presley and Shania Twain. An ardent fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Steve's loyalty and enthusiasm for his team were as steadfast as his commitment to his friends and family. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like having a cookout or ordering a large pizza or stromboli to share with those he loved. His spirit was unbreakable.
Steve's life was a reminder that each day is a gift to be embraced with open arms and a full heart. His stories will be retold, he will continue to bring laughter as we remember the good times and warmth as we listen to some of his favorite songs. Steve's memory will serve as a guiding light, encouraging us all to approach each day with a sense of humor, and the courage to be unabashedly ourselves. As we celebrate the life of Steven Shutt, let us honor his memory by emulating his passion for life. Let us share laughter freely and cherish the time we have with those we hold dear. Steve's journey may have come to a rest in the physical world, but his spirit lives on, reminding us that the essence of person lies not in their mere presence, but in the love they spread. Farewell, Steve. Your legacy will not merely be remembered; it will be felt, deeply, in the lives of all you touched.
A celebration of Steve will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2024 from 2-7pm at Burdette Park Shelter House #19. Turn right just passed the main entrance and it will be the shelter to your right.
