Steven Sinski Obituary

Obituary of Steven James Sinski
Steven James Sinski, 68, was born on August 18, 1956 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John Sinski and Regina Dolan Kwawer. He passed away suddenly at home in Warren, NJ on January 25, 2025.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Lau, and daughter, Lauren Ming. Also his one brother, John Sinski, Jr., and many extended family members.
Steven was a proud graduate of Aviation H.S. in Queens, New York and began his career in aviation working at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. He had too many passions to stay put – he loved music, film, videography and photography, hobbies he carried with him throughout his life. Steve's enthusiasm for the outdoors was what initially sparked his relationship with Maureen, and they spent many years together bicycling, kayaking, hiking and camping. Once Lauren was born, he couldn't wait to introduce her to all of it as well.
For work, he settled on his interest in airplanes. He was especially proud of his work on wide body planes at Continental and United Airlines. He spent more than three decades there, developing bonds with coworkers and treating it as his second home. Whether it be his interests, passions, or work, he loved to share his knowledge and to challenge all who were willing to listen to learn and to pursue excellence.
Steve loved to travel. He took his family on many trips across the country and around the world–Berlin, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Australia to name a few. And of course Japan, a country where he marvelled at their public transit systems and beauty in nature that he photographed extensively. He had taken many family and solo trips there to immerse himself in the culture. From his most recent trips after retirement, he would bring back stories such as managing to get a private tour of Toho Studios, the producers of Godzilla, and how a local gave him his first persimmon to try from their tree. A history buff, he would visit and revisit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and other historical landmarks for their importance.
Steve had lived a full and vibrant life, always pursuing the things he loved. He would wish the same for all he had come to know and care about.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Steve had touched are welcome to share memories, chat, and to say goodbye at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountian Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 on Saturday, February 15, 2025, 1-5 p.m., with a memorial at 2 p.m. or so, for some family eulogies and for anyone who would like to share a few words or stories about Steve.
