Steven “Steve” Donald Jonas, 69 years, of Slinger (formerly of Allenton) was called home to be with the Lord on February 6th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 22nd, 1955, in West Bend to Donald and Kay Jonas (Kuechler). Steve was a 1974 graduate of Slinger High School. He then attended Michigan State University and received his degree in Animal Nutrition Science from the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. On October 9th, 1982, he was united in marriage to Susanne E. Lischka at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church in West Bend, WI.
Following college, Steve co-owned Don’s Elevator with his father, maintaining the daily workings of the business for a good portion of his life. Many of these duties included serving as President and Vice President on several boards. After the sale of the family business in 1991, he went on to become a Home Appraiser for West Bend Savings Bank. He eventually started his own business, JF Appraisals, where he remained until retirement in December of 2020.
As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a proud Lifetime Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited where he was a board member for nearly 20 years. His German heritage was of great importance to him, and you would frequently find him at most German festivals or the Biergarten socializing with family and friends.
For many years, Steve was a member at Morning Star Ev. Lutheran Church in Jackson, WI, where he contributed to multiple duties including the Building & Grounds committee and was a lead Usher.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sue, of 42 years; father to Kimberly (Timothy) Wahl, Kristi Jonas, Marcus (Heather) Jonas; Opa to Carsten and Caleigh Jonas and Hannah Wahl and grand dogs Trigger and Whiskey. He is further survived by his mother, Kay Jonas; siblings, Karen (Douglas) Kieckhafer, Lynne (Jack) Kaetterhenry, Christine (David) Krebs, Gregory (Pamela) Jonas, Brian (Lyn) Jonas, and sister-in-law, Rene Rayala, as well as several other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Jonas, brother, Bruce Jonas and nephew, Ezekiel Jonas.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Froedtert Hospital and Horizon Home Care & Hospice for their compassionate care given to Steve in his last weeks.
A memorial service for Steve will be held on Friday, February 14th, 2025 at Morning Star Ev. Lutheran Church (N171W20131 Highland Rd. – Jackson, WI 53037) with visitation from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm and a service time of 1:00 pm with Pastor Jonathan Learman officiating. Memorials to Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warrior Project, or Ducks Unlimited in lieu of flowers, are appreciated.
“Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God”. - Psalm 31:5
