The family of Steven Daniel Strausberg announces with heavy hearts his passing on February 10th, 2026 at the age of 53. Steven died peacefully at home after battling a long illness.
Steven was born February 16, 1972 in Wyandotte Michigan, and was a graduate of Novi High School, where he distinguished himself athletically in swimming. After graduating magna cum laude from Michigan State University with a degree in Supply Chain Management, Steven began his career at Chrysler at the Warren Stamping Plant. He held several roles in production across multiple plants before moving into purchasing at Chrysler North American Headquarters. Steven went on to earn his Master of Business Administration, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University, and moved to American Axle as a Global Commodity Manager. Less than 3 years later, his career, natural charisma and passion aligned when he accepted a role as a Sales Manager, a role that would span the next 15 years of his career at both American Axle and Kirchhoff Automotive.
Steven poured himself into his hobbies and interests, whether it was gymnastics in his youth, weightlifting as an adult, rock and heavy metal music, action films, watching every episode of Columbo, or his numerous trips to scuba dive with sharks. In addition to an encyclopedic knowledge about the band Iron Maiden, and his ability to quote the entire movie Predator from memory, he was passionate about shark conservation. He devoted countless hours to building a comprehensive knowledge of the many species he encountered on his dives, and he had a special love for hammerheads in particular. Steven always enjoyed adventure, having sampled white water rafting, bungee jumping, sky diving, and street vendor food in Mexico. He was an ardent sports enthusiast, unwavering in his lifelong commitment to the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. His loyalty to Michigan State football, and especially basketball, was second to none; he was a Spartan to the core.
Steven's fierce loyalty also extended to friends and family, creating strong bonds that lasted throughout life's many ups and downs and across geographies. He was devoted to his nieces and nephew, making time for them as toddlers, and contributing to college funds for all of them as they aged.
Steven's family and friends will miss his laughter, his stubbornness, his generosity, and his near endless supply of hilarious and memorable stories. He loved to laugh, even when he was the target. He was a masterful story teller, especially when sharing personal anecdotes about the pranks, escapades and other "youthful misadventures" from his teens, through college, and on into adulthood.
Steven is survived by his loving parents Connie and Daniel, siblings Erika (Matthew) Mitchell and Timothy (Vanessa), nieces and nephew Ivy, Tobias, Nola and Morgan, his aunts Patti Durn, Nancy (Richard) Montagne, and cousins Jennifer, Jeffrey, Melissa and Kelley. Steven is reunited in heaven with his brother Mark David Strausberg, his aunt Patricia Workman, and his grandparents.
