Steven Wayne Sturdevant, a loving and generous man known for his handy skills, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2023, in Wills Point, Texas. Born on October 7, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to Edgar and Ruby Sturdevant, Steven was a pillar of strength and a beacon of kindness to all who knew him.
Steven was raised in Dallas, where he graduated from Adamson High School in 1969. He moved to Wills Point over 30 years ago. He worked diligently for a Dallas-based printing company, demonstrating his commitment to hard work and dedication. A man of faith, Steven, along with his family, was a devoted member of the Chapel of the Lake church.
Steven was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Ruby Sturdevant; his wife, Terry Buckley Sturdevant; his daughter, Jennifer Sturdevant; and his siblings, Donald and Tina Sturdevant. He is survived by his companion of 22 years, Julie Henderson; his sons, Steven Sturdevant Jr. and Edgar Sam Sturdevant; his daughter, Tamatha Henderson; his brothers, Gary Sturdevant and his wife, Judy, Rodney Sturdevant, and Mark Sturdevant; and his sister, Paula Wright and her husband, Larry. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Karsyn Sturdevant, Adalynn Sturdevant, Hayden Henderson, Leland Henderson, Brianna Hardee, and Catherine Hardee. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Steven was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and tranquility in the quiet moments by the water. His green thumb was evident in his beautiful yard and garden, a testament to his patience and nurturing nature.
Steven's life was marked by his generous spirit and loving heart. He was always ready to lend a hand, and his handy skills were appreciated by many. His kindness and generosity extended beyond his family and friends, touching the lives of everyone he met.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date by the family.
