Steven Charles Tilley, 65, of Franklin, NC, passed away June 2, 2025. Steven was born August 31, 1959, in Glen Cove, New York, to Dorothy Grace Kittel and the late Charles Tilley.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor. Steve was raised in a multi-generational home located along the waterside in Sea Cliff, NY. Mr. Tilley loved spending time at the Tilley boathouse with his family and friends. He cared for his mother for the past six years, and he had a strong faith in God.
Steve graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts with a degree in Physical Education. He would go on to work as a lifeguard, soccer coach and personal trainer. Later, he would also work for a company training sports teams and health facilities on the proper use of the company's fitness equipment. Mr. Tilley was an athlete and loved sports especially football, basketball and baseball and was a fan of the NY Jets, NY Knicks, NY Yankees and NY Mets. Steve also enjoyed swimming, cycling, running,and competing in triathlon events. A lover of the outdoors, Mr. Tilley also liked to go camping, canoeing, sailing, skiing, playing tennis, and ice hockey. He enjoyed woodworking as well and had gifted his family with many beautiful pieces of furniture. Steve also loved his 1980 Corvette.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Michael Tilley and James Tilley; a sister, Karin Keel; nephew, Steven Keel, niece, Danielle Keel and grand-nephew, Baz Kessel.
