I remember when Stewart came to India for first time, he shared a story about his experience of personal space difference between back home in states vs what he found in India. He was laughing while he explained the differences in culture. The story kind of stuck with me as I was meeting him first time.

I was at K-State with Stewart. We were Beta Theta Pi Fraternity brothers. Stewart was a great guy and good friend. He will be missed by all his brothers. Until we meet again. - Kai -

I worked with Stewart for 28+ years at HP and HPE. He impressed me by how graciously he served others, especially members of his team or anyone that needed his help. He recognized needs, and responded again and again if necessary until the need was resolved. Around the lunch table, he enjoyed story-telling, often with so much detail and humorous tangents that a 10-second story could mushroom into a 20-minute adventure. He enjoyed discussing construction projects. If you needed a tool to do something, he'd have 4 of them and be happy to lend them. We wondered how he ever collected so many tools? I'm convinced that some projects he undertook were for the explicit purpose of buying a new tool. During my final years at HP, we'd walk around the property during lunch time, discussing or debating everything under the sun. Though we espoused different politics, we were able to listen to and respect one another's genuine opinions (something I wish our country could practice, especially now). I will miss this great friend and colleague.

I worked for a couple of years for Stewart at HPE following the Cray acquisition before transitioning to another manager. I always looked forward to our weekly calls and the conversations inevitable shifted to hunting, BBQs, and house project talk. I was part of a WFR at HPE in 2023 but after a short time I found myself back at HPE on a new team. Stewart heard through the grape vine that I had been rehired, and although I hadn't spoken to Stewart in some time, he reached out to me personally in a phone call to congratulate me on my new position. Of course, it didn't take long, and we were once again exchanging hunting stories from the past season. This small gesture of a simple phone call speaks volumes to Stewart's kindness and character. Stewart was a genuine, wonderful, and knowledgeable person, and a great advocate for the people he led. He will be greatly missed.
