Loving Memory of Stuart Badler May 29, 1943 – September 4, 2025
It is with profound love and sadness that we honor the life of Stuart Badler, mostly known as "Stubie" - a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, mentor, fire commissioner, and patriarch of his family.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Stubie journey began with friendships that lasted a lifetime. Even into his later years, while living in Florida, he met up each month with his elementary school friends - Joey, Steve, Arnie, Bob, Craig, and Marty - to share laughs and stories, reliving the old days and cherishing the bonds they created so many decades ago.
After Brooklyn, he moved to Staten Island and then settled in New Jersey, where he raised his children and built countless friendships. New Jersey became a place of deep roots, fond memories, and lifelong bonds - including time spent with his beloved Grand Bay Harbor crew, where he enjoyed his boat and condo.
Later in life, Stubie went to Boynton Beach, Florida, to fully retire in the Valencia Cove community. There, his leadership and enthusiasm made a lasting mark. He was the founder and president of the Bocce League, which has grown exponentially since its inception. Stuart was also actively involved on the Insurance Committee and served as a member of the Grievance, Appeals, and Sports Committees. Beyond committees, he shared his love of games and camaraderie - assisting with the Open Canasta every Thursday, where he taught and played, and starting the Poker games in 2016, which remain a fixture of the community today.
Stubie lived a truly extraordinary life, filled with hard work, adventure, and stories that could fill a book. Over the years, he wore many hats: bounty hunter, insurance agent for 40 years, private investigator, band manager for the 1910 Fruitgum Company and Ohio Express, and proudly serving his community as a fire commissioner. He was also a man who wasn't afraid of rolling up his sleeves - working as a peephole salesman, selling shaved ice on the street, and even owning a racehorse. He lived fully, chasing every opportunity with determination and spirit.
Beyond work, Stubie had passions that brought him joy. He loved to golf, spend time boating, and play a good game of craps, always bringing laughter and energy wherever he went. And no matter the situation, he often summed things up with his signature phrase: "just plain terrific."
Yet, of all the roles he held in life, none were more important than family. He was the patriarch of his family - a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, friend, and mentor whose guidance and love shaped all who knew him. First a devoted husband to his late wife Carol, who passed away in November 2005 and with whom he is now reunited, and later finding love again with Mayra, his partner of 18 years and wife for the last 5.
Stubie is survived by his children: Keith (wife Amy), Robin (husband David), and Samantha (husband William). He was a proud grandfather to Andrew, Christopher, Hayden, Smith, Alexa, and Tyler.
Stubie's life was one of resilience, adventure, leadership, and love. Though we will miss him deeply, we take comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved wife Carol and that his spirit will live on in his family for generations.
