Through the years Sylvania has been known for having its share of citizens with colorful personalities. With the passing of Stuart Bragg at the age of 68 on September 28, 2024, Sylvania has lost one who definitely deserves the label of 'character'. Stuart was born on September 30, 1955 in Brunswick Georgia but lived almost all of his life in Sylvania. He wouldn't have been satisfied being anywhere else. The phrase most often repeated by Stuart's many friends is 'I didn't always like him but I always loved him'. Stuart would argue the opposite side of any subject just to see what reaction he got. Many people can recount conversations where things would get heated and the next minute they were laughing about it. Stuart was not shy about expressing his opinion. He was not always delicate in how he expressed it but people knew where he stood on an issue. Stuart believed in the motto 'and justice for all'. If you did something wrong, he thought you should be punished. But if you were wrongly accused of something or were being mistreated by the system, he would fight tooth and nail to help you get justice. Many people in the area were recipients of Stuart's generosity. If you fell on hard times, Stuart would lend a hand in any way he could. If you were one of those touched by his acts of kindness, please take a moment to remember your friend and do the same for someone else some day. That would be the best way to honor his legacy. Stuart was predeceased by his parents Charles Eugene Bragg and Ninette Sturgis Bragg McGowin and his beloved dog D.O.G and favorite cat Simba. Stuart is survived by his sister Marguerite Bragg of Savannah, cousins Carla Branch (Randy) of Cartersville and George Sturgis of Twin City, uncle Randy Wilson Sr. of Cartersville and extended family and friends. If you wish to make a donation in Stuart's name, please consider Friends of Screven County Animals P.O. Box 87, Sylvania GA 30467. Funeral arrangements are pending. Joiner Anderson Screven Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
