Sue Helms Beam, 72, of Eaker Rd., died unexpectedly August 8, 2022 at her residence. Sue was born in Mecklenburg County on Dec. 10, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Dorus and Beulah Houser Helms. Mrs. Beam was a Cosmetologist and had an Associate Degree in Cosmetology and Accounting. Sue was formally a regional supervisor with Regis Corporation and traveled throughout the world with her career making lifelong friends through her travels. Sue was also a stylist to several famous day time TV stars. After her retirement, she owned T & T Beauty and Barber Supply in Lincolnton, NC. She found great pleasure spending time at the beach, playing card games, visiting the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation at Cherokee and visiting The Two Kings of the Catawba Indian Nation.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Sorrels Beam.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Beam Knowles (David) and Teddi Beam Stepp (Jeff); grandchildren, Allison Knowles McInnis (Sam), and Lukas Knowles; siblings James Edward Helms (Helen) and Diane Helms Hastings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at Bethlehem Community Church at 2 PM with Rev. Michael Harrill, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Bess Chapel UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bethlehem Community Church from 12:30-1:45 PM prior to the service and other times at the home of Tammy and David Knowles, Hwy 274 North, Cherryville.
Memorials may be made to Cherryville Post 100 Ladies Auxiliary.
