Sue Burke Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Loves Park on Dec. 16, 2025.
Sue Burke was our little sister and is now our sister in heaven. She passed away on November 11, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born Susan Marie Burke in Rockford on July 1, 1963, to Donald & Dorothy (Nelson) Burke. Sue graduated from Harlem High School class of 1981. She moved to Moline, where she worked for Walmart until her retirement. She met a lot of close and lifelong friends there. She enjoyed working outside in the garden center. If you were a hard worker, you would have a lot of fun working with Sue. If you were lazy, well…haha.

Sue loved her friends, and her fur babies, Baby, Buttercup, & Colby. She loved everything outdoors. Susie loved the Chicago Bears, and she hated the Chicago Bears. Mostly, she loved sharing the wins & the losses over the years with our Mom & our brother Dennis.

Sue loved everyone in her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Rachel would probably say that she was Aunt Susie's favorite. And we would probably all agree with Rachel.

Our parents passed in 2006 and 2012. Susie was the youngest of eight. She is survived by her siblings, Teresa, Tom, Dennis, Debbie, Connie, Chuck, Shelly, and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Susie always worked hard, spoke the truth, and made us laugh.

We will have a private celebration of life at a later date.

Our family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who gave Sue their best care while experiencing her stubbornness and her bold sense of humor.

Also, a very special thank you to her good friends Steve, Chris, and Tracy for keeping their eyes on Sue and helping her with whatever she needed.

We all miss her so much.
