Sue Burkhart, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Greenville, SC, at the age of 70. Born on November 9, 1954, in Anderson, SC, Sue's life was a testament to the power of generosity.
Sue's early years in Greenville laid the foundation for a life characterized by caring for others. Her career was a reflection of her innate desire to nurture, as she spent many years working at a local nursing facility where she provided comfort and companionship to the elderly. Sue's compassion extended beyond her professional life, as she also dedicated time to the Mauldin Road fishing lake and AAA roofing, where her hard work and dedication were greatly appreciated by all who knew her.
A woman of many interests, Sue found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid fisher, often found by the water's edge, basking in the tranquility of nature. Family was the cornerstone of Sue's world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her children, Terry Byers with spouse Sandra Moore, Mandy Brown with spouse Johnny Brown, and Josh Byers, were the pride of her life. The legacy of her love is carried on by her eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were the recipients of her boundless affection and wisdom.
Sue's siblings, Mitchell, Terry, and Steve Sims, shared in the tapestry of her life's journey, while she held dear the memories of her departed siblings, Ronnie Looney, Henry Looney, Irvin Sims, Evelyn Sims, and Wanda Sims. Her devotion to her family was unwavering, and the bonds she forged with them were unbreakable.
A loyal friend and confidante, Sue's relationship with her best friend Rose was one of mutual respect and deep affection. Together, they shared countless hours of laughter and support, embodying the true essence of friendship. Sue's love for her dog, Mr. Gray, was yet another reflection of her caring spirit, as she embraced the companionship and joy that her furry friend brought into her life.
Sue Burkhart will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her selfless nature and generous heart left an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched. Her unwavering support and unconditional love were her gifts to the world, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Sue's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of kindness, and her story will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Her spirit, characterized by love and generosity, will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Receiving of friends will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 1-2 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2 PM, at the Cremation Society of SC - Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611.
