Sue M. Chadwick

1941 - 2022

Sue M. Chadwick, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022.

She was born on December 15, 1941, in Margaretville, New York, daughter of the late Raymond and Marguerite Murray.

Sue was a graduate of Cobleskill High School (Class of 1960) and Castleton State College (Class of 1972). She taught at Milford Central School. She later worked for Johnstown Hospital and for Dr. Ghazi in Amsterdam until her retirement in 2005.

She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Vincent Chadwick, whom she married on November 28, 1969. They were dedicated parents of two daughters, Jennifer, and Colleen. They were actively involved in their daughters' education and the community. Sue was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Johnstown-Gloversville BPW, Friends of the Johnstown Public Library, President of the JHS Band Support Group, Fulton County Democratic Club, and a charter member of the Fulton County Women Democratic Club.

After retirement, Sue and Vince enjoyed traveling and cruising to such destinations including Alaska, the Panama Canal, and Sue's favorite place, Hawaii. In 1998, Sue and Vince took their family to Ireland to explore their heritage. They also enjoyed their annual trips in Florida often inviting friends and family down to enjoy the warm weather.

Sue was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who her grandchildren affectionately called "Ga". Her legacy will live on with her family: Jennifer McDowell, and her husband Eric of Colonie, New York; Colleen Nesbit, and her husband Gregory of Bennington, Vermont; three grandchildren, Sara McDowell, Colin, and Ryan Nesbit; her Aunt Jean Bley of Springfield, Virginia as well as several cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie, NY.

Contributions in Sue's memory may be made to the Johnstown Public Library at 38 S. Market Street, Johnstown, New York 12095; the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley at 304 Howes Caves Rd, Howes Cave, NY 12092; and the Brennan Humane Society at 4379 Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
