Sue Lynn Neiger, age 83, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, December 1, 2023, in her residence, following a sudden illness.

Born on December 7, 1939, Sue was born in Midvale, Ohio, a daughter of the late Willard H. and Helen M. Stemple Hostetler.

She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jack Neiger in 1958 and again in 2006. Together the couple had three sons. Professionally, Sue was a 35-year employee of Union Hospital at Dover where she worked as a nursing assistant.

Her faith was nurtured at the Dover First Moravian Church where she was an active member of the congregation who enjoyed making coffee cakes, being a Sunday morning Greeter, and many other activities throughout the church. Her pride and joy in life was her family and grandchildren. Additionally, Sue loved volunteering for Community Hospice and Mobile Meals, being a caregiver to others, going out to eat, shopping, reading, and spending time on her iPad. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed Ohio State and North Carolina.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Heather) Neiger of Coshocton, Jack (Winifred) Neiger of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Jan (Lisa) Neiger of Worthington; her grandchildren, Kitrina (Josh) Meek, Brittany Neiger, and Luke Neiger, and a great-granddaughter, Liliana Meek.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Neiger on May 27, 2014.

A service celebrating Sue’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Pastor John B. Wallace officiating. The family will greet guests one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery.
