Sue was born in Monroe, North Carolina on October 11, 1935 to the late Boyce Hamilton Griffin and Ruby Morgan Griffin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Donald Price.
Sue graduated from Central High School in Charlotte, NC in 1952, and attended Mars Hill College and Queens College, graduating in 1956 with a degree in education. Sue taught in public schools for 38 years. Together with her husband, Don, she served God as a pastor’s wife, as a Sunday School teacher, and in other capacities as the Lord called her. She was honored to have a Sunday school class named after her at Benson Baptist Church, the Sue Price Sunday School Class.
Among Sue’s favorite things in life were spending time with her family and loved ones, playing cards, entertaining, spending time on the beach, and eating ice cream. She will long be remembered for the many lives she touched through the classroom and through, what her family lovingly refers to as, her phone ministry. She was a prayer warrior and a Godly woman. She was the strength behind much of Don’s ministry – praying, celebrating, and weeping with him. Together they served 7 churches faithfully and with great love for God’s people.
Surviving are her son, Marshall Price of Benson and Leigh Anne Price of Princeton; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Timothy Tart of Raleigh; granddaughters, Shannon Tart, Mattie Staley, and husband, Griffin, Anna Brown and husband, Jason, and Macie Price; great-grandsons, Esten and Eli Brown.
The family will receive friends at Benson Baptist Church in Benson from 4:00 PM until 4:45 PM Wednesday and other times at the home of Sue Price, 608 W. Parrish Drive, Benson, NC 27504.
