Sue Ritman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home - Louisville on Feb. 21, 2025.
Sue Margaret (Pigg) Ritman, 76, of Louisville, passed away February 15, 2025 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. She was born in Louisville, KY on September 17, 1948 to the late George Pigg and Pearl Reese Pigg.
Sue worked as a medical records clerk and transcriptionist for Our Lady of Peace and Central State Hospitals and later retired as a clerk from Jefferson County Public Schools.
She was an active and dedicated member of her community, serving on the board of the Peterson-Dumesnil House Foundation, and as a member of the LMPD 5th Division Citizen Police Advisory Council. She was a 50-year resident of the Reservoir Park neighborhood in Crescent Hill where she served as a neighborhood representative and as a member of the community council. In 2002 she received the Spirt of Crescent Hill award. She was a member of Edenside Christian Church from childhood until its closing in 2014, and then joined the welcoming community of Deer Park Baptist Church.
Sue enjoyed gardening and her home was a testament to her green thumb. She loved animals, especially cats, and cared for many over the years. Her kindness and concern for animals reflected her nurturing spirit.
Above all, Sue loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, and loving "MeMe" to her four grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. They will forever cherish the memories they made with her.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Beverly LaHue, Shirley Botkins, Verna Adams, and Ray Adams.
She is survived by her sons Aaron Ritman (Andrea), Matthew Ritman, grandchildren Ava, Evelyn, Isaac and Nathan Ritman, and by her beloved companion of 30 years, Roger Cossavella. Roger was not only a devoted partner but also a source of care and support, and his unwavering presence was a true blessing during Sue's final years.
She will be missed by nieces Jennifer Miller (Jeff), Renee Marshall (Bill), nephew Rod Botkins, brother-in-law Richard LaHue, as well as numerous friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 Monday February 24th at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. The funeral service will begin after visitation at 1:00, followed by burial at Cave Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Second Chances Wildlife Center and Deer Park Baptist Church.

Saddened to hear of Sue´s passing. Know her sisters welcomed her with open arms, together again. Sue was always at their side and helping at Edenside. Many wonderful memories are treasured. My sympathy and love to Roger and her family. Know she will be very missed. Louise Coomer
