Sue Sencabaugh Obituary

Sue Sencabaugh 1937- 2025 Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, Sue Sencabaugh, 87, passed away peacefully at home, January 18, 2025, Sandy by her side.

Sue was born on July 31, 1937, in Denver, Colorado, to Blake and Mildred Callaham Cassidy. She grew up in Torrington, Wyoming, and graduated from Cheyenne Central High School. Sue pursued higher education at the University of Wyoming, where she pledged Pi Beta Phi Sorority, fostering lifelong friendships that she cherished throughout her life. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and later a Master's degree.

Sue was married to John B. Sharp, and together they had three children: John, Sandy, and Scott. Later, she married Terrance Hanley, and together they raised her children. In 1986, Sue married the love of her life, George "Ed" Sencabaugh. The two enjoyed chaperoning DECA students, becoming "snowbirds" in Arizona, spending time with their grandchildren, playing the occasional game of golf, and caring for their beloved dogs.

Sue dedicated over 30 years of her life to East High School in Cheyenne, first as a business teacher and later as the DECA program leader for more than 20 years. She had a profound impact on her students, fellow teachers, and student teachers. Her commitment to excellence in education and her DECA program inspired countless young people to achieve their dreams. Sue's students adored her and continued to send her cards, letters, and emails, along with occasional lunches even after her retirement.

She loved to travel, immersing herself in the culture and history of the countries she visited, with Europe holding a special place in her heart.

At home, Sue found joy in tending to her flowerbeds, and creating colorful arrangements. Her creativity and attention to detail shone in everything she touched.

Sue's impact on her family, friends, and students will be remembered fondly. Her spirit of adventure, dedication to education, and the love she shared with those around her will continue for all who knew her.

Sue is survived by her children, John (Jennifer) Sharp, Scott (Barbara) Sharp, and Sandy Trofholz, Becky (Rudy) Nesvik, Steve Sencabaugh, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and her cousin, Mary Frances Harward. She was preceded in death by parents, Blake and Mildred Cassidy, brother Thomas Cassidy, husbands Terrance Hanley and George "Ed" Sencabaugh, Greg Trofholz, and David Sencabaugh.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
