Sue Tallant Obituary

Sue Skinner Tallant, 84, of Andrews, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her residence.
She was a native of Gainesville, Ga., and a graduate of South Hall High School. Sue graduated from Piedmont Hospital Nursing School in Atlanta, Ga., and began her nursing career at Hall County Hospital and the medical office of Dr. George D. Gowder Sr.
After moving to Andrews, she was employed at District Memorial Hospital and was recognized for "excellence in nursing" by the medical staff in 1981. The last 20 years of Sue's career was in home health, as an employee of Mountain Home Nursing Service in Hayesville, N.C. She served as assistant Director of Nursing, and helped provide care in Cherokee, Clay and Macon counties.
Following retirement in 2005, she enjoyed homemaking, reading, traveling, cooking, playing with and helping care for her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, and especially baking Christmas cookies for her family and friends.
Sue was a member of Andrews United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women, where she served as secretary. She was a member of Eastern Star Marble Springs Chapter No. 320.
Sue volunteered for many years with the home delivered meals program in Andrews and with the Welcome Table community meals ministry at Andrews Methodist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Olin Harrison and Edith Robenna Wood Skinner. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Philip Skinner.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Don Tallant of Andrews; two sons, Edward Harrison Tallant and fiancee Chalnicia Gibson of Andrews, and Mack Donald Tallant and wife April of Robbinsville; one brother, Harry Skinner and wife Sara of Gainesville, Ga.; six grandchildren, Ethne, Electa, Jackson, Zoe, Eli and Chase.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Andrews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sara Scruggs officiating. A reception will follow in the Family Life Center.
The family will receive friends from noon-12:50 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Andrews United Methodist Church.
Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of all arrangements.

I loved Sue and attended school with her and several years
Friendship and remember when she and Don married. She was a wonderful person! I will see her again when the Lord calls home
