Sue C. Wiest, 89, of Hilton Head SC., passed away Sunday June 4th, 2023 at The Cypress. She was born in Erie PA, worked and retired from General Telephone Company. After retirement she moved to Lady Lake FL and then to Hilton Head in 2019.
She enjoyed golf, cross stitch, jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, walking, interior design, being with her family and was a damn fine bocce player at 89 years of age. Sue was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved children and dogs, was always kind and considerate with a fantastic sense of humor and a consistent smile. She was also extremely competitive.
She is survived by daughters Terri (Tom) Ward of Pittsburgh, Maureen (Tom) Harman of Erie PA, Tammy (Bob) Sutton of Hilton Head SC, Melanie (Louis) Savor of Ringgold GA; sons Russell (Ruth) Wiest of Erie Pa, Kurt (Betsy) Guttshall of Birmingham AL; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, 1 grandson, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A casual (no suits) service will be held on June 23rd at 2:30 p.m. at Saul's Funeral Home in Bluffton SC. Visitation will be from 2:00-2:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL, at a later date. The family requests donations in Mrs. Wiest's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown MD 21741.
