Susan Asher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home - Louisville on Jul. 29, 2022.
On Tuesday, July 26, Susan Asher, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at the age of 61.
Susan was born on June 6, 1961 in Saint Claire, Michigan to Charles and Marlene Budnik. She graduated from Sacred Heart High school in 1979 and received her undergraduate degree from Western Kentucky University in 1983. Susan began her career in banking, but spent most of life in the non-profit and helping professions, including as the President of the Metro United Way of Central Kentucky. After many years in the professional world, she decided to get a Masters in Social Work from Western Kentucky University in 2008, and spent the rest of her career as a social worker.
Susan had a big heart and a passion for helping others. She was a life-long vegetarian and worked to make the world a better place. She loved spending time with her family and being a "Grammy" to her grandchild, Ari. Her "happy place" was Churchill Downs and she loved spending time at the racetrack.
Susan is survived by her child, Nick Asher, and his wife, Leah Koshmrl; her grandson, Ari; parents, Charles and Marlene Budnik; and two brothers, Charles (Janene) Budnik and Scott (Judy) Budnik; and many nieces and nephews.
Her service will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on August 27, 2022 at 4:00 pm, with a visitation preceding the service from 12:00 to 4:00.

I was so saddened to hear of Susan's passing. I have some wonderful memories of our friendship many years ago and how our sons enjoyed their summer days. My deepest sympathies to those who loved her most.

Ms.Susan was my son's therapist and he loved working with her so much. He would run to open the door for her every meeting. Our last time visiting with her was on his birthday and she was so nice that she brought him a birthday gift. She was a sweet lady and will be truly missed by so many people beyond her family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Susan's son and the rest of the family. A lot of great memories growing up with the Budniks being our next door neighbor.

From the day that we became classmates in grade school, I considered you my sister. Through the years and the distance between us that never changed! My heart is broken. Rest In Peace my friend.
