Susan H. Bishop

Susan Haldeman Bishop, 78 of Delmar passed away on December 25th, 2024 at the age of 78. Susan was the daughter of the late Richard Haldeman Sr and Mary "May" Haldeman and sister of the late Richard Haldeman Jr. She is survived by her two children David Bishop and Johanna (Bishop) Murdock as well as their spouses Tina Pupello and David Murdock, her four grandchildren Mason Bishop, Samuel Bishop, Adelaide Murdock and Hailey Murdock. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marianne (Walsh) Haldeman as well as her eight nieces and nephews (Kristin, Kaaren, Rik, Lauren, Katrin, Elizabeth, Edward and James) and their significant others and children.
Susan graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1964 and then attended Russell Sage College where she received a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1968. Once she graduated from Sage she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where her love of Cape Cod flourished. After moving around to Syracuse, NY and then Harrisburg, PA she eventually settled back into Troy, NY.
Susan worked for New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets where she retired after 30 plus years. She moved from Troy to Delmar to a wonderful community where she would enjoy summer evenings lounging poolside with the many friends made at Woodgate. Susan loved animals, baking, traveling and knitting. After her retirement she started volunteering for the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and she enjoyed traveling to many places, especially Chatham, Cape Cod. She also loved to knit and could be found making lots of baby hats for the newborns at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. But she most importantly loved spending time with her four grandchildren whether it was watching them play football, soccer or basketball games or teaching them the proper way to make Christmas cookies.
No public services will be held, a private memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
