Susan M. Britton

Susan Kay (Munn) Britton, 62, beloved wife of William Wayne Britton, of Pelham Green West, Waynesboro, died on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

She was born on November 28, 1947, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of the late George Edwin and Evelyn (Marshall) Munn.

Mrs. Britton was a graduate of James Madison University.

She taught for 22 years at Thomas Dixon and was an assistant director of Master Arts and Teaching at Mary Baldwin College.

She was recognized as a very competent and respected educator in this area. She touched many lives and was loved by all.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and Sharing the Faith Women's Circle.

In addition to her husband, family members include a brother, Craig E. Munn of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Bobby Britton of Robersonville, North Carolina; two aunts, Kathleen Tucker and Jeannette Halloran; and a number of cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Doctor Richard S. Dietrich, Reverend Doctor Randolph Harrison and the Reverend Ruth Graham.

Burial will be private.

There will be no public viewing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 100 East Frederick Street, Staunton, VA 24401.

Henry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
