Susan J. Comegys

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan J. Comegys (Bergold) of Felton, Delaware. She left us peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and warmth.
Susan was born on August 19, 1950, in Long Island, New York, to the late Joseph J. and Florence V. (Bayles) Bergold. In 1952, her parents moved to Magnolia, Delaware, to start their farming business. Growing up on the farm, Susan developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family and community.
Susan graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1968 and attended Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown, where she earned her degree in 1970. Shortly after graduation, Susan began work for the state of Delaware in various capacities. She ultimately retired in 2022 after 51 years of dedicated service as a Human Resources Specialist.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Wilbert W. Comegys Jr. of 51 years. He loved her dearly and cared for her with great tenderness until her very last day, a testament to their enduring love and bond.
She will be deeply missed by her son Justin, his wife Katie, and her cherished grandchildren, Brynlee and Reed Comegys, who brought her so much joy. Susan was especially proud of her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them, particularly her beloved grandchildren. Susan loved being Nana more than anything, and the title filled her heart with pride.
In addition to her family, Susan took great pride in always looking her best. Her thoughtful sense of style reflected her caring nature. She found great joy in shopping, always searching for the perfect gift to others. Susan also enjoyed her yearly vacations to the Outer Banks, where she cherished time with friends.
Susan had a heart of gold and a soul full of kindness, which will continue to live on in her family and the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Her memory will be cherished forever.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 12:00pm at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, Delaware. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior. Burial will follow the service at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
