With heavy hearts but joyful spirits, we announce the passing of Susan A. Craig (Thomas), a beloved daughter, mother, and friend, who left us on December 4, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on July 23, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Susan brightened the lives of everyone she met with her warm heart and unwavering spirit.
Growing up in Sayler Park as the daughter of Elmer and Loraine (Johnson) Thomas, Susan's life was filled with laughter and love. She married Robert Craig, Sr., and together they shared many wonderful moments with their two children: Michelle, David, and after the untimely passing of her husband in 1983, Susan embraced the challenge of becoming a new mom to Robert Jr. and raising her children as a single mother, exhibiting incredible strength and resilience. Travis was the caboose to her family and they all made lasting memories together.
Throughout her life, Susan dedicated over 20 years to her work as a cashier at Kroger, where she became a familiar face in the community. Upon her retirement, she relished her newfound leisure time, often found immersed in mystery novels, with a particular fondness for Stephen King. Susan's love for her feline companions was legendary; she often joked that her cats held a special place in her heart, equal to that of her beloved children and grandchildren. But above all, family remained her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and delighted in family outings to the zoo and memorable beach vacations.
Susan is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle (David) Edenfield; sons, David Craig, Travis (Christina) Roberson, and Robert (Megan) Craig Jr.; and her treasured grandchildren, Bryce and Liam Edenfield, Chloe, Summyr, and Jaxson Roberson. She will also be deeply missed by her dear sister, Phyllis (George) Richmond, along with her nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Craig, Sr.; her parents, Elmer and Loraine (Johnson) Thomas; and her siblings, Kathy Omara and Danny Thomas.
In loving memory of Susan, we will gather to celebrate her extraordinary life. Visitation will take place at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 138 Monitor Ave, Sayler Park, OH 45233, on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 10 AM until the time of the service at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Baltimore Pike Cemetery.
In honor of Susan's profound love for cats, memorial contributions are requested to support your favorite animal shelter or the Scratching Post https://www.thescratchingpost.org/donate. We invite all who knew and loved Susan to join us in celebrating her vibrant spirit and the countless ways she touched our lives. A funeral home representative will be present to assist during the services.
Together, let us celebrate the beautiful legacy she leaves behind, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories.
