Susan Joanne Davitt, of Harrisburg, North Carolina, age 65, passed away on June 23, 2025. Born on February 24, 1960, in Flint, MI she was the daughter of the late Joanne Leach and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Elmer Leach.

Susan graduated from Kearsley High School in Flint in 1978, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Western Michigan University, and later obtained a Master’s degree in Management from Central Michigan University. Her career showcased her diverse talents, beginning as a dietitian promoting health and wellness and culminating in a 20-year tenure as a financial manager at TIAA-CREF. There, she earned certifications as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), guiding clients with expertise and care.

Susan married Neil Christopher Swiacki six times, beginning with their wedding on August 7, 1987, followed by five cherished vow renewals over their nearly 38-year marriage. Their final ceremony, on their 37th anniversary, took place in the stunning landscape of Longyearbyen, Norway. After moving to Harrisburg, NC, in 2001, they traveled the world, enjoying cruises, resort getaways, and trips to Mexico, Central America, and South America, where Susan delighted in learning and speaking Spanish.

Susan’s passion for adventure was boundless. She bungee jumped 229 feet off New Zealand’s Skipper’s Canyon Bridge, parachuted through the blue skies of North Carolina, explored Australia’s Great Barrier Reef as a recreational diver, and marveled at wildlife while birding in the Galapagos Islands. Her love of dancing brought joy to any gathering, her vibrant spirit a light to all.

A devoted member of Rocky River Church in Concord, North Carolina, Susan’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was baptized twice as a member, including a profound moment in the Jordan River during a church-sponsored trip to the Holy Land in 2019. Her active involvement in the church community forged many meaningful relationships and inspired those around her.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband, Neil Christopher Swiacki; her sister, Cathie (Steve) Aho; her extended Swiacki family: Dr. Gerald R. (Linda) Swiacki, Cynthia (Dr. David) Wiedemer, Sheila (Ken) Smith, Melissa (Edward Jr.) Ewald, and loving cousin, Nancy Harbron; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She also cherished a special group of Beautiful, Charming, and Beloved sister-friends whose love she treasured. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joanne Leach, and stepfather, Elmer Leach.

Susan’s faith, love, courage, and adventure will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors, and church community. A celebration service of her life is scheduled for Friday, June 27 at 11:00 AM at Rocky River Church, 887 Pitts School Road SW, Concord, NC 28027. A second memorial is scheduled for August 9, 2025 in Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Rocky River Church or Tucker Hospice House.
