Mrs. Susan Phillips Gilbert, 75, of Wynne, passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family.
Susan was born on February 14, 1950, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to the late Leland Dale and Bettie Lou Young Phillips. Susan graduated from Tuckerman High School in 1968. After graduation, Susan went on to ASU and graduated with her BSE and MSE and pursued a career in education. She taught for Wynne Public Schools for 35 years before retiring. She was married to Mr. Joe Gilbert and they raised three children, Jody, Amy and Grady. Susan loved her family and found joy watching her children and grandchildren in all their sports and activities. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Susan also loved teaching Sunday school, painting, being an avid tennis player and playing bridge with her bridge club for years. She was a lifelong member of Wynne Presbyterian Church.
Susan is survived by her children, Jody Gilbert (Jodi Stepp) of Wynne, Amy Poindexter (Brad) of Wynne, Grady Gilbert (Shannon Knapp) of Wynne, brothers, Lee Phillips (Dale), Jeff Phillips (Jill), sisters, Marty Frederick (Virgle) and Becky Ethridge (Bobby). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jake Gilbert (fiancé, Rachel Tom) Seth Poindexter, Grace Gilbert, Grady Gilbert, Jr. and Brynnli Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland Dale Phillips and Bettie Lou Young Phillips, husband, Joe Gilbert and sister, Mindy Phillips.
The family is eternally grateful to Ms. Rancetta Wilson and the staff of Legacy Hospice for the love and care given to our dear mother. They will forever hold a special place in our heart.
Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, 5 to 7 PM, April 6, 2025, at Wynne Presbyterian Church 1735 E. Poplar Ave, Wynne, Arkansas. A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Wynne Presbyterian Church, at 11 AM. Burial will be held privately.
