Susan (nee Molscen) Jafari, 75, of Mundelein, IL, passed away on November 29, 2024, surrounded by her family. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born in Chicago, Susan was raised by her mother and grandparents in the warmth of a large, close-knit family steeped in Swedish traditions and love. These roots shaped her values and sense of community, which carried through her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Aileen (nee Stenstrom) Molscen, her grandparents, Reuben and Ruth (nee Johnson) Stenstrom, as well as several adored aunts and uncles.
Family was at the center of Susan's world. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her loved ones first. Susan's life will be forever cherished by her loving husband of 54 years, Jeff Jafari. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion and unconditional love. Together, they raised three children who adored their mother: Jason (Stephanie) Jafari, Jessica (Chris) Womack, and Jennifer (Michael) Jafari-Sayre.
Susan and Jeff met on a blind date and were married two days after Christmas. They built a life together first in Chicago, then raised their family in Skokie, and last moved to their dream home in Mundelein where they pridefully customized a stunning backyard with an exceptional rose garden, pond and gazebo where Susan and Jeff enjoyed relaxing together, as well as entertaining family and friends.
Susan was a proud and doting grandmother to her 11 grandchildren and great grandchildren: Ashlee (Michael) Schmitz, RyLee (Kevin) Walger, Cadance Jafari (19), Zaydee Jafari (15), Jason (12) and Lucas (8) Schmitz, Jocelyn (12) and Wes (12) Sayre, Brycen Walger (9), Josslyn (8) and Jayden (6) Womack
Susan's grandchildren brought her unparalleled joy and she cherished every moment with them, often dropping everything to be present in their lives. Her unwavering love and support created a legacy of connection and devotion that her family will carry with them forever.
Susan was of deep thought and driven by human connection. Her calming presence, careful listening and gentle wisdom made Susan a "safe haven" for her family and close friends when faced with challenges or crossroads. Among her many passions, Susan loved to travel, host meals for her family, visit with her book club and bible study friends, as well as enjoying several volunteer opportunities.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 1 p.m. at The Chapel in Libertyville.
Susan's memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones as an enduring example of love, kindness and warmth.
