Susan Delmira (Hinzman) Leaster, age 68, of Newport, TN, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025 in her home.
Born on June 11, 1956, in Warren, Ohio, Sue was the beloved daughter of Dale and Lily Hinzman. She grew up in Leavittsburg, OH (LeBrae class of '74) where she developed a profound love for writing, justice, and debate. As a child, she enjoyed walking to church and attending Sunday School.
She exemplified a remarkable blend of wit, kindness, and generosity, embodying a strong spirit and fierce devotion to her family and friends. Throughout her life, she worked in various roles, including an investigator, a chemical plant inspector, a bookeeper, and a business owner, bringing dedication and care to everything she did. She was known for her strong work ethic and ability to connect with people in every job she held.
Her eagerness to lend a hand to anyone in distress reflected her innate ability to offer support, wisdom, and kindness to all she encountered. As a loving mother and successful business owner, she dedicated her life to making the world a better place.
Susan was a loving wife to Gary Leaster, cherishing 12 beautiful years of love and partnership until his passing. As a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she brought warmth and joy to everyone around her. Her heart was truly happiest when surrounded by family, and she embraced the role of a bonus mom and grandma to many, creating lasting bonds and cherished memories. Her legacy of love and connection will always be remembered.
Her legacy continues with her children Brian (Kimberly) Metz, and Jenn Metz; grandchildren Dylan Cupp (Deja Hall), Raechel, Lucy Metz, Jedi Metz, and great-grandson Gryffin Cupp "her birthday twin." She is survived by her brother Phil Hinzman, sister Sherrie (Rick) Guenzi, and brother Ray (Cindy) Hinzman, her closest niece Taunya Soulier, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and close friends Barbara and Bill Smith, as well as all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Leaster, and her parents Dale and Lily, and her sister Sandra.
A celebration of life will be held 6:00 pm on March 10th, 2025 at Milano's Restaurant in Newport, TN.
Her love, wisdom, and warmth will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Colossians 3:9-10 #JustLaugh
