Susan Lee (Hanson) Lewis, 83, Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at home peacefully after a lengthy illness on October 15th, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and daughter. Susan was born on June 12, 1942, in Rockford, Illinois, to Gerald and Virginia Hanson. She married her high school sweetheart, Don, and together they shared 67 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and building a real estate empire. Susan graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education and later became a Realtor. Her greatest happiness was found in her family, and the many meals and memories shared. She was a gifted painter, seamstress, and quilt maker whose creations reflected her joy. A marvelous cook and pie baker, she loved entertaining and filling her home with holiday decorations. She was an avid shopper and reader who treasured her books and magazines, always curious and eager to learn.
Family was at the heart of Susan’s life. She is survived by her husband, Donald Lee Lewis (Parker, CO); daughters Lori Lewis Hsieh (Walnut Creek, CA) and Sheri Lewis Paul (Silverthorne, CO); grandchildren Jordan Christopher Paul (Denver, CO), Spencer Andrew Paul (Granby, CO), and Elizabeth Juliana Hsieh (Los Gatos, CA); and great-granddaughter Kinley Eleanor Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol (Hanson) Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, at 2:30 PM on October 23rd, followed by a festive dinner& cocktails at 4:30 PM at the Heritage Eagle Bend clubhouse at 23155 E. Heritage Pkwy, Aurora. Please wear a touch of purple or lavender, her favorite color! A private family burial will be on October 24 at 11:00 AM at The Littleton Cemetery on S. Prince Street. Flowers may be sent to the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home. To honor her with a donation to those who provided compassionate end-of-life care may do so at Elevation Hospice of Colorado, The Parker Senior Center, or The National Kidney Foundation.
