Susan Marie Limer, 78, died on June 8, 2025 in Lenexa, Kansas.
Susan was born in Highland, Illinois to Wallace Edward Stoecklin and Estelle Clara Luber on November 25, 1946. She grew up in Highland, Illinois and married James Richard Limer on August 29, 1968 in Highland, Illinois.
Susan graduated from St. John's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and moved to Ballwin, Missouri with Jim. They relocated their family to Overland Park, Kansas in 1983 and continued to raise their 4 children there.
Sue loved to take cruises with Jim and to plan family vacations to the lake. She continued to stay active in nursing and enjoyed being the neighborhood Avon lady. Nothing made her more happy than spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them in any way possible! She was known for her holiday cookies and making sure everyone had an Easter basket and Christmas stocking well into their adult years. The amount of care and dedication that she showed everyone that came into her path was truly remarkable. She was everyone’s “mom” that showed up to the house and always made anyone that visited her home feel welcome. She volunteered a significant amount of time in her retirement years to her church and helped to care for elder parishioners that were in need. Although her light may have dimmed in her later years, the memories of the love and compassion she displayed throughout her life will never fade. She will be extraordinarily missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by children Brett (and spouse Shelby), Bryan, Jeff (and partner Kristin) and Jenny (and partner Ammon); grandchildren Flora (and spouse Logan), Matthew, Penny and Grae; great granddaughter Kinsley, siblings Leann, Alan (and spouse Ann), John (and spouse Denise) and a loving extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 53 years, Jim.
A celebration of life will be held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens in Overland Park (11200 Metcalf Avenue) on Sunday, July 13 at 11:00am. Relatives and friends may gather at the Hampton Inn (7521 W. 135th Street) from 1:00pm to 3:00pm following memorial services. As per Sue’s wishes, a formal burial service will not be held.
