Susan Regina Minnich Allen, age 71, of Needmore, Pennsylvania, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Doey’s House Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born Tuesday, December 29, 1953, in Washington County, MD, She was the daughter of the late Joseph Ruthroff and Margaret Regina Neikirk.

Susan was a graduate of South Hagerstown High School, Class of 1971. She and her sister Carole lettered in softball and basketball as a part of the Girls’ State Championship Teams, for four years, in both sports.

She was a farmer for over thirty years. Fourteen years prior to her retirement, she worked as a CNA for Potomac Center of Hagerstown, retiring in 2018.

Susan was an avid gun collector and enjoyed shooting her guns on the range and on her farm.

She is survived by two sisters, Jo Ellen Cramer husband Ron of Waynesboro, PA, and Carole Minnich Bernstein husband Albert of Dayton, MD; one niece, Mary Jo Bowers of Hagerstown, MD; three nephews, David Kline of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Xavier Brown of Washington DC, and Cam Sullivan Brown of Bowie, MD.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Jim Allen and her companion Joe Hull.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s name can be made to Doey’s House, mail to 11370 Caring Pathway Ln, Hagerstown, MD 21742 and/or the Alumni Association of South Hagerstown High School Class of 1971, mail to SHHS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 597, Funkstown, MD 21734.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Doctor Mahin Kahn, Doctor M. Jafferji, the staff of Wing 5 East at Meritus Medical Center, the staff at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD, Nurse Lila of John Marsh Cancer Center Hagerstown, MD, Craig and staff at Reed’s Pharmacy Hancock, MD, and Hospice of Washington County.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with one-hour prior visitation at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750. Pastor Rick Remmers will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
