Helen Lenore Swain, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 25, 2025.
Born Friday, July 5, 1940, in Warfordsburg, Fulton County Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Walter Albert Golden and Ella Maye (Hill) Golden.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-three years Daniel Herbert Swain, Sr. on Saturday, February 17, 1996. Dan and Lenore are now together again in Heaven.
Lenore attended Beauty School in Martinsburg, West Virginia, worked in Baltimore for 6 months, then went to Hagerstown to work and managed a shop for 5 years. She was a mother and homemaker as well as ran her business, ABC Beauty Shop out of her home from the 1970s until around 2009.
Lenore is survived by her son Daniel H. Swain Jr. (wife Julie) and daughter Debra K. Bream (husband Tim). Seven grandchildren: Lauren Swain, Daniel Swain III, Patrick Swain, Jessica Swain, Jamie Bream, Steven Bream, and Andrew Bream.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by an infant grandson Aaron Bream and her brother Henry Golden.
Lenore was a very talented artist, cook, and writer, and enjoyed working outdoors in the yard and garden, sewing, oil painting, and many different types of crafts. She also greatly enjoyed family and local history and spent many hours lovingly scrapbooking, creating genealogy books, and gathering Fulton County historical information. In the early 1970s she published a local history magazine for several years called Tri-State Treasures.
Lenore had a heart for hospitality and ministry. She began a Greeter’s Ministry and participated in starting a Women's Ministry at Needmore Bible Church, and up until her death, had a Grief Ministry that had reached many people.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at Grove-Rogowski Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11:00a.m. with one-hour prior visitation at Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, PA 17238. Pastor Brandon Hill will officiate. Interment will follow at Rehobeth Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, PA.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Needmore Bible Church, 6939 Great Cove Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
