Susan Moulder

On Monday, December 5th, 2022, Susan Grace Moulder passed from this life at the age of 65.
Susan was born on December 13, 1956 to Dr. Samuel and Polly Pearce. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lee Anne Moulder, who passed away in 2010.
She is survived by her children: Lindsey Moulder (John) Yoes and Todd Moulder, grandchildren: Mason and Lydia Yoes, Lennox and Cohen Moulder. She is also survived by her siblings Danny Pearce and wife Chrystal of Murfreesboro, Elizabeth (Betty) Royer and husband Philip of Knoxville, and Amy Overcast and husband Johnny of Shelbyville.
Susan graduated with the Class of 1974 at Shelbyville Central High School. She performed with the SCHS Marching Band as a majorette and continued to twirl her baton throughout her life. She graduated from Aquinas College with a degree in dental hygiene. She worked for many years in private dentistry and ended her career in January 2021 at the VA hospital dental clinic in Murfreesboro. She gained many dear friends through her profession. Susan was a beautiful soul who always greeted you with her infectious smile. She was known to many as "Susue." She loved her family and friends and never left without a hug. She loved telling stories and remembering family history. She treasured her grandchildren, always seeking out experiences to have with them.
A gardener who took great pride in her beautiful yard filled with flowers and plants, she worked tirelessly from spring to fall every afternoon pulling weeds, raking, and pruning. Susan loved the river and kayaking. Many times, she would float off alone, just taking in the scenery and the natural habitat of the river. She was always looking for treasures of river glass or geodes. She loved the mystery of what was inside, always forbidding us from opening them and reminding us that using our imagination was better. If you were on the Duck River and heard a Tarzan call, there was a good chance it was Susan- it was a requirement of every float. Susue loved bird watching and identifying bird calls. She enjoyed writing poetry. Also a talented artist who loved oil painting and watercolor, she was her own toughest critic. Susan also enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, and reading recipe books. She was famous for her carrot cake. As a lover of antiques, she was an avid collector of all things old, cool, and dusty. Rocks were requested as souvenirs when others traveled. She was an eternal optimist who faced every challenge placed before her with her unwavering strength. She was a cancer warrior.

It's not long now
Days seemed so many
but it's funny how they passed so quickly
Days seem as hours
Hours seem as minutes
How do minutes seem?
They seem to pass....
The uncomfortable ones drag
the pleasurable ones.....
well, they turned into hours
from minutes, from seconds
from life, from love, from spirit
I accept you as my....
Well, as my what?
Anyway, "I do."
My most celebrated thought is that I will never have to go home again,
I'll already be there.

The family will receive friends 1-4 PM at Doak Howell Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11, 2022 with a celebration of life to be held in the spring of 2023 in honor of Susan's wishes.
