Susan Nancy Shikany died peacefully at home in her sleep on June 12,2025.

Susan was born to Jack and Nancy Goudy during a blizzard in Philadelphia PA on March

19,1956. Police officers drove the expectant parents to the hospital and awaited the

outcome. Susan graduated from Berea (OH) High School (1973) and Miami University of OH

(1977) with a degree in Elementary Education. She completed her MLS in 1993 and worked

as a Media Specialist at Hemby Bridge Elementary until her recent retirement. She was

active in Indian Trail and Lake Park and served as a member of the Levine Senior Center

Advisory Council. She was a long term member of the Supper Club that Reads at the

Monroe Library, Union County Democrats and Weight Watchers (at goal!) She recently

celebrated her 8 gallon blood donation with the American Red Cross. Susan achieved a life

goal of appearing as a contestant on Jeopardy! and had recently traveled to Iceland and

Switzerland. She was an accomplished quilter, reader and citizen of the world.

She is survived by her sisters Joyce (Jim) Guenther, Claire (Bob) Mish, Nancy (Dave) Graeser

and Mary (Pete ) Bonneau as well as many nieces, nephews and family members. She was

preceded in death by her parents, beloved son Steve Hess and dear husband Joe Shikany.

A celebration of life will be held this summer . Memorials may be made in her honor to
