Susan Marie Wolfe (Barrett), age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Sue was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and took great pride in being a Laker. Her childhood was filled with many memories of life with her three sisters, Julie, Barb and Amy. Their bond remained strong into adulthood. They were in constant communication with text strings labeled "Hotline" and "Sisters".
She attended University of North Dakota (go Sioux!) where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Education. She made many memories with her Pi Beta Phi sisters and SAE brothers.
Sue was set up on a blind date with Matt Wolfe in 1989 and six months later they were engaged. They were married for 34 years. Their relationship will be remembered as one of total devotion and support. Her Type A personality perfectly complemented his Type B, perhaps with just a bit of frustration along the way.
Over the years, she had a number of jobs. Growing up, she worked at Fair Hills Resort and Detroit State Bank (Bremer Bank). After college, she was employed in various positions, including Business Education Teacher, Office Manager and Bookkeeper. However, her favorite job of all was being a stay-at-home mom.
Her greatest joy was being a mother to Gabe and Hannah. She was their biggest supporter and was interested in all of their activities and friends.
Sue maintained many special friendships from childhood, high-school, college and adulthood. Her friends were an important part of her life. She was energized by her family and was completely invested in the lives of those around her. She was always thinking of everyone else and knew the right thing to say. You could always count on Sue to have a card in the mail.
She loved her summers at their cabin on West Leaf Lake, including pontoon rides, playing games with her family, highlighted by the annual 4th of July celebration, picnic and cornhole tournament. Spending time with her family and many friends was her joy. She was known to shut down the Tiki Bar with the neighbors, even though she didn't drink.
She was an avid supporter of the Andover Huskies, UND Fighting Sioux, GCU Antelopes, Mankato Mavericks, Minnesota Gophers, Vikings, Timberwolves and Wild. She loved all sports.
Sue was proud of getting Wordle in 1, not once but twice and served as Vice President of the "exclusive" Ladies' Club.
She was thrilled to become a mother-in-law to Erin and danced the night away at Gabe and Erin's wedding in October.
Sue is survived by her husband, Matt Wolfe; daughter, Hannah Wolfe; son and daughter-in-law Gabe and Erin Wolfe; sisters Julie (Jim) Hessel; Barb (Craig) Dyk; Amy (John) Engerholm; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Harriet Barrett and niece Katie Risley.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Faith Lutheran Church, 11115 Hanson Boulevard, NW, Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Visitation will be at Noon, service at 1:00 p.m. with lunch to follow.
Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church in Sue's honor.

What a blessing to have Sue as my Pi Phi Big Sis! Her kindness and consideration for others were an amazing example for me. She touched so many lives. I´m so grateful we were able to reconnect at the Pi Phi reunion. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
