Susanne Follansbee Groom, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Biloxi, Mississippi.
Born in Massachusetts, Susanne was a proud New Englander who later made Biloxi her longtime home. She was a dedicated educator, earning her master’s degree after studying at Atlantic Union College and Boston University. She devoted 36 years to teaching in Sterling, Massachusetts, where she left a lasting impact on generations of students.
Susanne had a lifelong love of music. She played the organ and served as choir director at her church in Clinton, Massachusetts for 17 years, sharing her gifts and enriching her community through song.
Above all, Susanne was a devoted mother. She was endlessly loving, patient, and kind—even when we fell short. Her unwavering support and quiet strength inspired us to grow into better people. Simply put, she was the best mom we could have asked for.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Howard Groom; and her parents, Harold and Florence Follansbee.
She is survived by her three children, Susanne, Marc, and Eric; two grandchildren, Scott and Kathryn; and her cherished great-grandson, Grayson.
