Suzanne J. Lohbeck

Age 79. Of Cincinnati Ohio, passed away on September 18, 2022, at The Wellington at North Bend Crossing. She was born on December 18, 1942, to the late George Lohbeck and Dolores (Toll) Lohbeck.
Sue is survived by her brothers Richard (Nancy) Lohbeck of Haines City Fl. and John (Debbie) Lohbeck of Centerville OH and five nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and nephews. Sue was not blessed with children but she formed a special bond with the Lamb and Wright families, becoming known as Nanny Sue.
Sue was a 1961 graduate of Mother of Mercy High School, St. Elizabeth (Dayton OH) School of Nursing, and received her Bachelor of Science from Mt St. Joseph College. Upon graduation from Nursing School, Sue enlisted in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant and then volunteered for duty in Vietnam. She was stationed at the 12th EVAC Hospital 29 miles from Saigon in Cu-Chi and was there from November of 1967 through October of 1968, during the Tet Offensive. She was proud of her service in the field hospital but the amount of suffering and death took its toll on her. When she was discharged from the Army, she left nursing and returned to school to become a Registered Dietician. Sue worked most of her career at University Hospital. In 1996-97 Sue was honored as one of their Hospital Heroes with recognition as such for a full year.
Sue volunteered for many years at the Museum Center as well as Sharon Woods Village. She loved to travel and was fortunate to visit many countries of the world as well as to see many beautiful parts of the United States. She had a very full and rewarding life and through her work at University Hospital touched the lives of many people. She was generous to a fault and always went to the aid of those in need. Throughout her life Sue certainly embodied the principles of Servant Leadership as a true Christian.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday October 3, 2022, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Western Hills. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the beginning of Mass.
