Suzanne Cecilia Rusher

Suzanne “Suzie” Marty Rusher of North Little Rock passed away on June 25, 2023. She was born June 17, 1939 in Odessa, Texas to parents Warren & Lucille Hisel who proceeded her in death. Suzanne graduated high school in Wichita Falls, Texas and attended North Texas University. She moved to North Little Rock in 1977. She retired from the City of Little Rock Finance Department after 28 years. She loved bowling, playing bridge, jigsaw puzzles, casinos, and working in her yard.

Survivors are husband Jerry Rusher of the home; sons: Stephen Marty (Janet) of Orlando, FL, Kenneth Marty (Becky) of Washington State, and David Marty (Melissa) of Florida; three stepsons: Jeff Rusher (Lisa), Rodger Rusher, & Greg Rusher (Sorita) and 1 stepdaughter Alicia O’Brien (Jim), who were loved as her own. Two grandchildren: Amanda Marty and Jason Marty, 7 step grandchildren:  Heather Rusher, Megan Blocker, Hunter Rusher, Zach Rusher, Brad Rusher, Britney Mitchell, and Lauren Lockwood, & 11 great-grandchildren: Abbie Rusher, Braden Rusher, Emma Rusher, Lexie Lockwood, Bailey Lockwood, Hollis Blocker, Hudson Blocker, Holland Blocker, Hayden Mitchell, Kaylee Mitchell, and Quinn Ivy Rusher. Also 1 brother in Texas: Henry Hisel (Linda) and brother-in-law Craig Stotts and numerous nieces and nephews.

Brother, Chris Hisel, sister-in-law Cheryl Stotts, and former husband Anthony Marty proceeded her in death.

She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in North Little Rock.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, July 1 at 1:00 PM at the Smith Sherwood Funeral Home Chapel with a Celebration of Life to immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Bro. Charles Hawkins to officiate. A private family burial will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Arkansas Hospice in Suzie’s name.
