Sylvester Dennis Schilling

Sylvester Dennis Schilling Jr., age 95, peacefully passed away December 6th, 2025.

Born March 27th, 1930, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, raised during the great depression, the dust bowl and WWII, Sylvester was the middle child and only boy of five. Sylvester joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and served in Korea where (as Sylvester put it) President Eisenhower thought he did such a great job; he insisted that he should stay another two years. After his military service he worked as a cross-country truck driver and soon met his wife (Norma), married April 10th, 1959, and settled down in Michigan.

Sylvester was employed by several companies as a machine builder and was soon hired at General Motors to maintain their plant robotics and assembly line systems. He retired from GM's Truck and Bus Plant in 1995 to Holly Michigan where he enjoyed wood working. Recently he had moved to Grand Blanc and relaxed on 8 acres.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his wife Norma and granddaughter Michelle (Axford) and is survived by his five children,

Sylvester (Debbie) Schilling, Theresa (William) Axford, David Schilling, Timmothy (Wanda) Schilling, Michael Schilling. Twelve grandchildren, Heather Schilling, William Axford, Jessica (Ben) Aldridge, Kayla Schilling, McKenna Schilling, Nicholas Schilling, Timothy Schilling, Megan Schilling, Seth Schilling, Tomas Schilling, Kurt Schilling, Haley (Connor) Sutton, and six (seven soon) great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday, December 15th, at Dryer Funeral Home in Holly, with visitation from 2:00-4:00 pm and service at 4:00 pm.
