Sylvia Lee Czech, 73, of Saegertown Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, August 17 after an extended illness. She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 9, 1950 to Peter & Gladys Banach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, John Czech.
She is survived by her four sons: Travis Czech of Erie, PA; Tim Czech of Erie, PA (Jamie); Trevor Czech of Saegertown, PA (Emily); and Jacob Czech of Seattle, WA; one sister, Patty Clayton, (Jared); niece Darlene Klenke (Jason); four granddaughters: Marley, Sadiey, Everly, and Maisey, as well as many dear cousins all over the country. She is also survived by her two beloved cats, Solomon and Lenny.
Sylvia was smart, kind, artistic, self sacrificing, loyal to her friends and family, well read and had a certain strength to her. She always tried to do what was right, even when circumstances weren't in her favor. She loved cooking, planting flowers, and sewing. She also had a great love of animals, especially her dear cats. She enjoyed being a grandma and the time she spent with her granddaughters. Sylvia deeply loved her four sons and did whatever she could for them.
She was well-loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a person of strong faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, built on generations of family devoted to the doing of God's will. She spoke assuredly of her faith, but did not force her view on others. She was assured that in due time, she would be remembered as Job 14:15 says: "You will call and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands." She believed in a restored paradise on earth as promised in God's word, the Bible. We will rejoice to have her back when that time comes.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 15315 Harmonsburg Rd. Meadville, PA 16335 on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the World Wide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses at donate.jw.org
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville, PA 16335.

I am certainly saddened to hear of Sylvia's passing. I will always remember her as a devoted wife and mother, a good cook, a talented pianist, and a person to have in your corner. Every time I visited her house she was the perfect hostess and a whirlwind of activity- which with a family of her size one had to be! I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. Everyone should be so lucky as to have a neighbor or friend like Sylvia, and a lot of us had that privilege.
