Mrs Sylvia Lynn Gordon

Sylvia Lynn Kemp Gordon Laurel, MS Sylvia, 78, passed away in Laurel, MS Friday October 3rd. Visitation will take place in Carthage, MS at Wilcox Funeral Home Tuesday October 7th from 10-11:30a.m. A graveside service will follow in Reformation Cemetery at 12 o'clock next to her Granny, Fannie Ball Wooten. She was preceeded in death by her parents, Willie Wesley and Lena Mae Kemp; sisters Lanette Savell and Thomasine Edwards, and daughter Betty Lynn Fitzhugh. She is survived by her brother Mendal Kemp (Rita), daughter Sylvia Ann Herren, and son Wesley Fitzhugh (Susan), six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She had a special love of family. Sylvia was a free spirit who loved horses and pets. In her healthier days she also enjoyed traveling. The last few years had been physically challenging for her, but she fought with a stubborn resolve and a strong heart exhibiting an internal strength until her body could take no more. Pall bearers will be Joseph Mansell, Lee Gilmer, Michael Gilmer, Tony Savell, David Savell and Chance Herren.
