Sylvia Ayers, wonderful mother and grandmother passed away suddenly, Monday, November 15, 2021 in Paris, KY.
Sylvia was born Sylvia Marjorie Jones to Rev. Milton Sylvester and Margaret Patterson Jones on June 28, 1943 in Paris, Ky. She spent her early formative years in Philadelphia and always remembered her time there fondly. She lived in the Germantown section of the city and would reminisce about taking the trolley to Italian Market with her mother.
She returned to Paris in her teen years and graduated with honors from Western High School. She attended Kentucky State University before enlisting in the Army. After Sylvia was honorably discharged, she enrolled at Tennessee State University where she graduated with a degree in Sociology.
After graduating from college, she returned to Philadelphia and worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for many years. Sylvia forged lifelong relationships and friendships while back in Philadelphia. Later, Sylvia returned to Paris, KY and worked at several companies before retiring from Square D.
Sylvia was an active member of the Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Paris KY. And before that, a member of 7th Street Christian Church. She spent her church life serving as a Sunday school teacher, usher board member, and spoken word poet. She also was an avid reader and was a sports fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Louisville Cardinals. She was smart as a whip and the best in Bible trivia or Jeopardy questions. She's fun-loving, funny, intelligent woman who lived her life Her way.
She is survived by one son, Corey (Nikia) Chisholm; three granddaughters, Jordyn Chisholm, Jocelyn Chisholm and Jolene Chisholm and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday November 22, 2021 at the Seventh Street Christian Church, 122 West 7th St., Paris, KY by Rev. William Garr and Bishop Verdell Jones, Sr.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Monday November 22, 2021 until the hour of service at the church.
The funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
The online guestbook is at www.Lusk-McFarland.com and a 24 hour funeral information line can be reached by calling 859-987-4387.
