Sylvia Bomberger McKee was born on March 22nd, 1933 and died on January 29th, 2023 in Newtown Square, PA. She was born and raised in Lititz, PA where she will be buried with her predeceased husband of 49.9 years, Robert (Bob). Sylvia was a graduate of West Chester University. She is survived by her three children: John (Darla) of Washington state, Susan (Tim Manser) of New Jersey, and David (Shelley) of Washington state; her seven grandchildren (Emily, Anna, Kelsey, Gwyneth, Amber, Ian and Blake); and three great-grandchildren (Elizabeth, John and David).
Sylvia loved people and community and was loved in return. In the late 1960's Sylvia and Bob moved their family from Media, PA to La Canada, CA. There, Sylvia volunteered at Verdugo Hills Hospital and The Spastic Children's League of Pasadena. She enjoyed hosting parties for most any occasion. In 1992, with Bob then retired, Sylvia and Bob moved back to Pennsylvania and were residents of Hersey's Mill in West Chester. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels of West Chester during that time. A few years after Bob's death Sylvia moved to White Horse Village in Newtown Square, PA, where she lived until her death. At White Horse, Sylvia volunteered often, most notably on the White Horse Village Committee for the Employee Appreciation Fund. She also enjoyed book and wine clubs and bingo.
Sylvia's first passions were her family and her faith. She was a deacon at both La Canada Presbyterial Church and First Presbyterian Church of West Chester. Christmas and celebrating holiday traditions with family were very special to Sylvia and will be some of the many happy memories her family carry with them. She relished participating in her children and grandchildren's lives and was very proud of their growth and achievements.
Sylvia and Bob travelled all over the world and enjoyed cruise vacations. They allowed themselves a great deal of spontaneity during these trips and so brought back many humorous and adventure-filled stories to share with family and friends.
An open Memorial Service will be held in the White Horse Village Auditorium, 535 Gradyville Rd., Newtown Square, PA 19073 on March 31st -visitation at 10 AM, service at 11 AM. A luncheon reception on the premises will follow. Burial will be private. Donations in Sylvia's memory are encouraged to be given to Meals on Wheels of Lititz, PA at https://mealsonwheelsoflancaster.org/othermowlocations/, or the White Horse Village Employee Appreciation Fund at https://www.whitehorsevillage.org/charitable-giving/
