Sylvia F. Mendoza, 72, of Mathis, Texas, passed away on May 6, 2025. She was born on November 8, 1952, to parents Apolonio and Hilaria Fonseca.
Sylvia was a strong and loving wife and mother; she always did her best to be there for her family. She was a bit feisty at times, but always meant well when it came to her children. She would give all she had to make sure they were always taken care of.
Sylvia’s favorite TV shows were The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. She loved to read, with her favorite author being James Paterson. She was very proud of her family and was always surrounded with pictures of all her children and grandchildren all over her room.
Sylvia is reunited with her parents, Apolonio and Hilaria Fonseca; son, Rene Costilla; and one sister. She leaves her memories to her husband, Benito Mendoza; her children, Genaro (Angelina) Costilla, Samuel Costilla, Sonia Mendoza, and Gabino (Jessica) Mendoza; eight grandchildren; five sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
