Sylvia L. Simms, 87 of Kimbolton, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025 at her residence.

Sylvia was born September 9, 1937, in Barberton to the late John Luther Sharier and Elizabeth Jane (Hanson.) Sylvia attended North Salem Church, and Full Gospel Temple, and enjoyed playing bingo. She made the best fried chicken. She was very close with her family and loved them very much.

She is survived by her children Howard Simms (and forever friend Jackie Cutshall), Bonnita (Mark) McCoun, Bertie (Leonard) Shaw, and Margarett Edwards; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of forty-two years Howard Franklin Simms, who passed away in 1997; her children John R. Simms and Kester L. Simms; numerous siblings; her grandson Mark McCoun, and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Addy Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Bruce Colvin officiating. Sylvia will be laid to rest in Plainfield Cemetery.
