Talbott Chase McPherson, 93, of Marion, passed away at 8:20 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Wilmore, Kentucky, on Thursday, November 24, 1932, to Rev. C.R. and Anna (Talbott) McPherson. On August 27, 1954, he married the love of his life, Joan Elaine Jackson.

Talbott graduated from Goshen High School in Damascus, Ohio. He spent more than 25 years working as an inspector with Fisher Body (General Motors) in Marion, a career he took great pride in. He loved the automobile industry-building cars, talking about cars, and being part of an industry that allowed him to provide for his family. His work was a source of deep satisfaction, and he was proud to have spent his life connected to something he truly enjoyed.

He always saw to it his family attended church. Faith and music were central to who Talbott was. He attended South Marion Friends for over 30 years as a faithful chior member and later attended Lakeview Wesleyan Church, where he was always involved in whatever was happening-singing in quartets, lifting his voice in the choir, and lending a hand wherever he was needed. He loved to sing, and his joy in music was something he shared generously with others.

Talbott also enjoyed golf, both playing and watching, and he faithfully attended qualifications at the Indianapolis 500. He was handy with a paintbrush and often helped paint homes and even the church, offering his time and skills without hesitation.

Survivors include his son, Ronald L. McPherson (the late Tina) of Fowlerton; daughter, Beth Strasser (the late Karl) of Marion; son, Allen McPherson (Tricia) of Batesville; grandchildren, Laura Maples (Pat) of Nashville, TN; Ross McPherson (Christa) of Marion, Kyle Nelson (Ashley) of Swayzee, Allen McPherson, Jr. (Michelle) of San Diego, CA, Alaina Halbur (Christian) of Dawsonville, GA, Alexander McPherson of Tucson, AZ; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters; and two brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. C.R. and Anna McPherson, and his wife, Joan Elaine McPherson.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A service to celebrate Talbott's life will begin at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Jim Sonnefield officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery.
