Tamara Lynn Smith "Tammy Cannon" was born on May 30, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia. She passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 59 in her home located in Orchard Hill. As proud Georgia native and retired officer from Henry County, Tammy lived a life filled with love for her family, animals, and the many joys of Southern living.

Tammy earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Georgia State and served many years as a police officer. Her last position held was in the Henry County middle schools where she brought her faith and values to work with her every day to positively impact the young lives around her. She was always committed to the safety and security of her schools.

Tammy is survived by her daughter Brittany Nicole Dudley (33) and her son William Brandon Dudley (31) who were the pride of her life, as well as her husband Michael Cannon, and her four siblings: Mark Smith, Valerie Hearn, Chris Smith, and Amy Wolf. She cherished all 9 of her nieces and nephews; Parker, Jonathan, Zachary and Virginia Smtih, Crystal Hearn, Alyssa Jarvis, Derrick, Jessica and Nola Wolf. Tammy was proceeded in death by her parents Billy Lee Smith and Mildred Virginia McBrayer, and her former husband, "Bill" William Brandon Dudley Jr.

Her love for animals was one of the defining aspects of Tammy's life. She especially cherished her papillons, Bubba J and Sophia- who brought days of endless joy to her heart and soul. Whether tending to her horses, or cuddling with her pups, she found peace in their companionship.

Tammy also loved the Rock Springs Church family and found spiritual strength under the guidance of her beloved pastor, Benny Tate. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and provided comfort to her during both joyful moments and times of sorrow. Tammy had an adventurous palate and a passion for cooking. She delighted in exploring new restaurants and recipes- always eager to share a new culinary discovery with those around her. She often raved about the brisket sandwich at Buc-ee's and was always eager to tell others how they 'ought' to try it.

An avid supporter of all things Georgia- especially the Georgia bulldogs- Tammy wore her red and black with pride. Tammy was very outspoken, full of humor, and her vibrance is something that will be remembered by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her most.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, September 28th at Connor-Westbury Funeral Home located at 1891 W. McIntosh Road in Griffin, Ga 30023. Visitation is at 1:00 pm and her service will be held at 2:00pm with a short reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to go to the Christian Women's Center in Griffin, Ga. Website: cwcga.org.
