Obituary published on Legacy.com by Buchanan Funeral Service on Nov. 11, 2025.
Tammy Sue Stolte (Turk) was born on May 9, 1959, in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, at St. Anthony's Hospital, and passed away peacefully at her
home surrounded by her loving family on November 9, 2025, at the age
of 66. Tammy was the beloved daughter of the late James Turk and Aloma
Turk of Oklahoma City. She is survived by her devoted husband and best
friend, Dr. Bryan K. Stolte, whom she married on August 3, 2009, in
the Virgin Islands. Tammy was a loving mother to her three daughters,
Tawnee Howard (husband Cody Howard) of Fletcher, OK; Gabrielle Rains
of Oklahoma City, and Shyanne Rains of Oklahoma City. She was a proud
"Grammy" to Jordyn Howard, Rilyn Howard, Ireland Walden, Jeremyah
Howard, Ruby Howard, and Edith "Edie" Shields. Tammy is also survived
by her sisters Tina Percival of Yukon, OK; Terri Newton of Newcastle,
OK; Theresa McDaniel of Apache, OK; and Toni Budge of Meridian, ID;
along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved her
dearly. Tammy graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School in 1977. She
began working at Western Electric in August 1977, which later became
AT&T and then Lucent Technologies, dedicating 25 years of service to
those telecommunications companies. She later attended Francis Tuttle
Technology Center, where she earned her CMA certification. Tammy first
worked as a nurse at the OU Medical Center, then spent fifteen years
in the Mercy Health Network. She was deeply admired by her co-workers
and patients alike. Tammy retired from Mercy in May 2024. Tammy was a
creative soul - an artist, a tinkerer, and a maker of all things.
There was rarely a project she wouldn't try or a problem she couldn't
fix. Her craft room was her happy place, always filled with color,
tools, and love. She had a giving heart and expressed her love through
thoughtful gifts and acts of kindness. Tammy's generosity, warmth, and
humor will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She was a
bright, shining star who lit up every room she entered. Tammy truly
loved the Lord and was a worshipping member of Newchurch in Oklahoma
City. She is gone now, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, but she left an impact on so many lives and she will
never, ever be forgotten.
