In Loving Memory of Tanner Phillip Scott
Tanner Phillip Scott, 31, of Phippsburg, Maine, tragically passed away on November 12th, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with addiction-an illness he faced with quiet strength, resilience, and a depth of spirit few ever truly saw. His family chooses to remember not the struggle that ended his life, but the love he carried, the tenderness he offered, and the heart he shared with those he loved most.
Born on April 12, 1994, in Bath, Maine, to Douglas Albion Scott and Renee Wyman Scott, Tanner entered the world with a gentle soul and a sensitivity that shaped every chapter of his life. He was
pre-deceased by his father, Douglas, who passed in 2010, a loss that remained deeply etched in Tanner's heart.
Tanner found some of his greatest peace on the ocean. Whether he was fishing, lobstering, out on a boat, or simply standing near the tide, the ocean called to him in a way nothing else could. It grounded him, freed his mind, and brought him closest to the memories of his father. Tanner also had a deep love for food-especially sweets. Sharing a favorite treat, enjoying a good meal, or indulging in something sugary brought him a simple, genuine joy. He loved traveling as well, always seeking new places, new views, and moments that made him feel alive.
Tanner is survived by his children, Darcy Scott and Mia Scott, each of whom held a distinct and cherished place in his heart. His love for his children was one of the brightest and most meaningful
parts of his life.
A defining part of Tanner's life was his love for Olivia Merryman, the mother of his daughter Mia. Olivia was Tanner's safe place-someone who saw him clearly, loved him deeply, and stood beside him when the world felt heavy. Their connection shaped Tanner in lasting ways, and the love they shared continues through their daughter, who carries pieces of both of them forever.
Tanner is also survived by his mother, Renee Wyman Scott, who remained a significant presence in his
life and whose love continued to support him through every chapter. He is survived as well by his
siblings, Cody Edward Scott and Haley May Scott, who will forever remember him as a brother with a
soft heart, a contagious laugh, and an emotional depth that not everyone was lucky enough to see. He
is remembered lovingly by his sister-in-law, Olivia Suzanne Scott, and their children, Hailynn and
Carson, who brought warmth, stability, and joy into Tanner's life.
He is mourned by his grandparents, Philip and Janet Wyman of West Point, whose steady love helped
shape the man he became. Tanner is also survived by his uncles, Scott Wyman and Craig Wyman of
California, and his cousins Alexis and Roy Wyman, each holding their own cherished memories of his
kindness and heart. He is further survived by his step-father, Dana McLean, and wife Melissa McLean
of Phippsburg, who provided their own care and support throughout his life.
Tanner's life was layered-love, struggle, hope, hardship, and an enormous capacity for feeling.
Addiction was the illness he carried, not the definition of who he was. His true legacy lives in the
connections he made, the love he gave, and the memories held close by those who truly understood
him.
It is with great sadness and a heaviness that words can barely hold that his family says goodbye.
Losing Tanner leaves an ache that will not soon fade-a silence in the spaces he once filled with
laughter, tenderness, and quiet depth. Those who loved him carry not only the pain of his absence but
the weight of all the moments they wished he could have stayed for. Though his struggle has ended
and his suffering is finally at rest, the hearts he leaves behind will forever feel the imprint of his love, his
spirit, and the pieces of him that can never be replaced.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
